(CTN News) – Dubai has launched a five-year multiple-entry visa to encourage travel between India and the Gulf country, according to the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET).

In 2023, Dubai received 2.46 million, overnight guests, from India, a 25% increase from the pre-pandemic era. According to the most recent DET data released on Thursday, this makes the country the number one source market.

The city welcomed 1.84 million Indian tourists the previous year and 1.97 million in 2019, according to the report.

According to the data, with an unprecedented 34% year-on-year rise, India remained the number one source market with the most international visitors from a single country.

“Dubai introduced a five-year multiple-entry visa to further bolster travel between India and Dubai, to foster sustained economic collaborations and encourage tourism and business ties,” the Department of External Affairs (DET) said.

This phase assures that the visa, which is provided within 2-5 working days of receiving and accepting the service request, permits the holder to stay in the nation for 90 days, which can be extended once for a similar time, for a total stay of no more than 180 days in one year.

According to DET, tourists can benefit from this initiative by having various entry and exit points, which provides operational flexibility for business engagements, leisure travel, and seamless connectivity.

“Our inbound visitor from India in 2023 was exceptional, leading to a record-breaking performance by our tourism industry.

“As a key market for Dubai, India will continue to play an integral role in enabling us to achieve the goals of the D33 Agenda, further reinforcing Dubai’s position2023 as a hub for business, investment, and tourism,” Bader Ali Habib, Regional Head of Proximity Markets at Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, stated.

According to him, this historic milestone initiative will not only allow Indian tourists to have a longer and more enriching experience but will also serve as a platform for further economic partnership.

“With exceptional flight connectivity and our ongoing commitment to the Indian market, we are confident that our upcoming initiatives will further amplify awareness about Dubai’s diverse offerings, multicultural setting, and abundance of hotels and attractions, continuing to make it the top travel choice for Indian tourists,” he went on to say.

According to DET data, Dubai would welcome 17.15 million foreign overnight visitors in 2023, up 19.4 per cent from 14.36 million tourist arrivals in 2022.
